The company was originally founded on the North Shore of Long Island where Jennifer became inspired by her love of interior decorating which began with prior homes in Darien and New Canaan CT to use some of the fabrics she used in decorating for her own clothes. She thought it would be fun to make a novelty skirt from her horse print draperies that were formerly in her Locust Valley antique farm house and wear them to one of the many charity polo events she often attended such as Save the Children. Again, she later thought I love this toile fabric let me design a dress where the main design is shown in the body of the sundress like artwork and from there it grew. Jennifer was originally inspired when on a college spring break visit to Palm Beach she and her sorority sisters shopped at Lilly and she bought her first scrap of material and thought I am going to make something out of this, she did -pillows. Jennifer became inspired when she was a successful beauty/fashion advertising account executive in Manhattan and won an Effie Award for Marketing for Navy Fragrance by Cover Girl. Her team had a competition that had up and coming designers like Pamela Dennis and Randolph Duke make fabulous outfits in Navy. Jennifer saw how textiles and unique materials were used and never forgot the whimsy, joy and beauty they created . Years later when she started her company she used furnishings trimmings and fabrics which are often stronger than clothing fabrics and challenged herself to create them in a way in which one could wear such a statement almost like artwork -to be noticed. Alas, her Palm Beach pantsuit, faux mink robe for warmth anywhere and her "Holy Cow" mini skirt and zip up raincoat duo in a vinyl white and black faux suede basically waterproof. Totally useful but incredibly unique you must be confident to wear one of Jennifer's designs!
